I can’t explain how excited I am about this project. I have been meeting wonderful women from all over Istanbul. I hope to launch the English version of it soon and publish interviews with women from different countries who change their careers or pursue different ones at the same time.
For the last few years, over 30 stock exchanges around the world are joining forces with the UN Global Compact and UN Women in a global “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” partnership to highlight the business case for achieving gender equality in the workplace on the International Women’s Day (8 March).
Like last year, one of my clients was among the speakers at the event in Turkey as the Business Advocate of Women’s Empowerment Principles. We prepared an amazing speech, and she delivered it perfectly well.
After all this razzle-dazzle, I feel like I deserve a break. For the rest of the month, I’ll be on the move, first traveling to my hometown Ankara and then to Europe. I’ll keep you updated while I’m road tripping!
Finally here we go with this week’s discoveries:
Book- John Berger- To the Wedding
Upon last week’s funny incident at the wedding of one of my best friend’s, I was given this book of Dearest John Berger as a gift. The book tells the story of two lovers (Gino and Ninon) who are getting married and how they try to find the meaning in their lives.
Well, this week I was going to suggest Moonlight as my Oscars favorite, but I m sure most of you have already seen it.
So I want to recommend Tanna this week. The movie tells a forbidden love story of two youngsters living in the same tribe in a remote Pacific Island. On the one hand, it is important for the villagers to preserve the status quo, the traditional culture, but on the other hand, there needs to be a response to the increasing demand for personal freedom.
Last week I had some time before a meeting in Arnavutköy. My intention was to have a cup of coffee in the meantime, but I accidentally stumbled on this cocktail place called Hudson. The place is neat, staff is kind, and the cocktails are delicious.
