I can’t believe we are already in March. Time goes by so fast and today you are reading the vol. 10 of MWSs.
March -in my petite world- means the “Month of Women”.
I hate to think that there is just one particular day to remember women’s issues or mothers, fayda, children etc. However, I believe we could at least use these times to raise more awareness and attract more attention to the problems.
This month started with the Premiere of a women’s documentary that we have been working on for several months. The documentary tells stories of women from all over Turkey who managed to break the barriers and prejudices in their lives and surroundings. Our hard work really paid off, and the documentary attracted the attention of many from the business world, civil society, and the media.
You may see the teaser here, but unfortunately, it is only in Turkish:
This past week, I also started to work on the website for my side project that I mentioned last week. I hope to launch it very soon. Well, it will be in Turkish but, please stay tuned, the English version will come soon too!
And last but not least, one of my best friends got married this weekend, and I was so happy to be her Maid of Honour.
This photo of me that I posted to my social media accounts the other night with a message “And they lived happily ever after” created some sort of a controversy. Some thought that I was the one who got married. The funny thing that some even called my dad to ask for the details :)) I had to tell people that I am not married (yet) and I am not gay 🙂
I worked hard but had so much fun whole week.
I couldn’t discover much but I still have some stuff to share with you:
Movie: 20th Century Women
This week I was planning to share my favorite Oscar nominee with you, but I’ll save it for the next one. Instead I would like to recommend you 20th Century Women.
The movie takes place in the ’70s and tells the story of three women, one man and a young boy living in the same house, defining and exploring love, friendship, feminism, and freedom.
Documentary: The Ascent of Woman
I have one more documentary for you this week. The Ascent of Woman, written and presented by renown historian and journalist Dr. Amanda Foreman, is a fantastic documentary which tells us about the gender relations in different parts of the world by uncovering stories of women that have a tremendous effect on human history from 10,000 BC to the present day.
New place to hang out : Story Coffee
Located in the heart of Moda, Story Coffee opened its doors to coffee lovers just few days ago. The cafe offers not only variety of beverages but also super delicious food. I fall in love with their sandwich with turkey and avocado. Totally worth paying a visit when you are in the neighborhood. The staff is super friendly and kind. I think I have finally found my spot.
