Last Sunday midnight I posted a message on my FB wall. I wanted to know whether any women in my circle decided to change career in their 30s.
Next day, I posted the same message on my LinkedIn and Twitter accounts too. Then I started watching the magic emerging. All of a sudden messages and emails from women all over the country and also from abroad filled my Inbox’s.
My initial impulse was to do some research by interviewing some of them and then maybe write an article for my blog.
But after receiving too many responses, I decided to think of a bigger picture.
As a communications consultant and obsessive project manager, I started writing down the steps of a possible project: The aim & goal, the target group, activities, expected outcome, etc…
Although this is just a personal interest at the moment, I can’t help but think professionally. It would do me good in the mid and long run, I guess.
I am making a list of the women who have been in contact with me, with their details, including how they reach me. I also started meeting some of them. Listening to their stories and experience is just awesome. I hope it will turn out to be something useful, hopeful and inspiring for those who want to change their lives but are afraid of acting forward.
I named the project “ProjectPost30” (PP30). I am thinking of creating a website now and uploading podcasts of the interviews first. If you know any women who shifted career after their 30s, please do let me know. I would love to meet them.
Anyways, I have been busier than ever whole week, but surprisingly I managed to discover many good stuff again. So here we go with my weekly suggestions:
Movie: T2 Trainspotting
I know it is the Oscars night but I want to share my favourite next week (and it is definitely not the La La Land).
Last week Istanbul hosted one of the most fun events of the year: Independent Film Festival of Istanbul – IFIstanbul
I was fortunate enough -thanks to my beloved friend Ezgi with whom I experience deep camaraderie (last week’s favourite word:)- to find a seat for the press premiere of the sequel to Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting. As many of you know, a whole generation (including me) was raised by this movie, and some of us ruined their lives more than others by choosing their kind of lives.
I think T2 Trainspotting is not that extraordinary, sad and depressing as the original one. It rather leaves you with a feeling of having fun. I liked it, though. It is not going to be on screen here in Turkey but I hope you find a way to watch it somehow.
TV Series: StartUp
The story of a brilliant female coder teaming up with a young banker and a gangster to launch a StartUp on digital currency.
Book: Welcome to your brain
Do you want to know the answers to these questions and more?
– Why can’t you tickle yourself?- Can you improve your brain with video games?-
– Does drinking really kill brain cells?
– Does listening to Mozart make your baby smarter?
Then please do check this out! It is easy to read and understand and totally mind blowing.
Place: Lades Lokantası
A friend of mine recommended this restaurant, and she was totally right about what she said. The food is super delicious, and the prices are fair. Lades is not a popular tourist spot, but I’d recommend if you want to taste some traditional Ottoman and Turkish cuisine.
Word: Sojourn- Temporary stay
