A new year has arrived with its flaws and baggage from the previous one.
I was not expecting anything to change, to be honest. I always admired the optimism of the people for the NYE. I can only keep my optimism for my micro world.
On the NYE, I decided to send letters to the people who had a huge effect on my life during 2016, whom I care, love (or once loved) and more importantly for whom I feel grateful to have in my life. Those people were the ones who helped me become a better person by nurturing my soul, by showing me things that I haven’t discovered about myself and by challenging me.
I was not expecting quick responses, yet so far I can tell that some of them literally made me cry.
Once again it proved that you’ve got to give to get back to the love.
My close friends know, I have been making lists of almost anything, books I read, films that I watched, songs, new words, quotes, passages from books that I love, places I like hanging out and much more… A few weeks ago, a friend of mine asked why I don’t share them with other people. First I was hesitant but then to discipline my writing habit here on this blog, I decided to share my weekly suggestions with you. You can interpret it as an extension of my itty bitty contribution to the world 😃
The posts will be quite short and will consist of my discoveries of music, film, books, videos, or let’s say any form of art and anything that made me feel a bit less hectic during the week. Some of these suggestions will be quite old, so do not expect everything to be newly released.
I must admit, I was inspired by Spotify’s Weekly Discovery playlist and Esther Perel‘s newsletters.
Here we go for the first week of the year
Book: The First Century After Beatrice by Amin Malouf
This book was a gift from my dad for the NYE and since it is his birthday today, this should be a tribute to him.
Movie: Rumbos (Night Tales )
This is a Spanish movie that I happened to watch on the plane last week; I quite liked it.
TV Series: Atlanta
Place to Hang Out:
700 gr Moda / Kadıköy
I could only taste their breakfast so far, it was amazing, you should definitely give a try when you are around.
For Turkish audience: ongun ruh ya da kutlu mutluluk diye çevrildiğini gördüm kelimenin; iyi bir ruha ve her anlamda doyurucu bir yaşama ulaşma şeklinde özetlenebilir.
Well, this is it for the first week.
Hope you enjoy it!
If you have any suggestions, I would be delighted to know.
See you next one !
