Quite a few hectic months have been passed. Since spring is about to arrive, I wanted to summarize what I have been through in terms of work-related projects during this winter.
Our focus in February was on our event at Conrad Hotel for European Investment Fund.
I, along with my beloved team, organized a networking event on 16th February, for Turkey’s first technology transfer accelerator fund, TTA Turkey.
The aim of the event was to introduce Turkey’s first technology transfer funds, Diffusion Capital Partners and ACT Venture Partners and create a networking platform for high-level attendees among entrepreneurship ecosystem in Turkey. The attendees of this half-day event included representatives from Turkey’s Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, European Investment Bank Group, TÜBİTAK, TTGV, Technology Transfer Offices from all around the country and also investors and entrepreneurs.
We started with the opening speeches of the Project Partners , then continued with a panel and concluded the event with an open buffet lunch.
On this mission, we were responsible for all the design and management of the event along with the media relations.
This event has not only been a good example of the quality of the services we provide to our clients but also has proven to me once again that how much I love working on projects that involve international organizations, public bodies, civil society and private sector at the same time.
Another major thing in February was the second event of our Project “Entrepreneurship Stories” . Like the first event, I was one of the speakers and talked about some of the funding opportunities for early entrepreneurs or for the ones who want to establish their own companies.
This time the event took place on 29th February at Koç University’s Incubation Center and it was amazing to see that we had more attendees than the first one even though it was on a Monday evening.
Speaking about our voluntary Project, Entrepreneurship Stories, it is worth mentioning that on 1st March, I and my Project partner Perçin (İmrek) were on TRT Radio to talk about the Project and entrepreneurship in general. The programme is hosted by a good friend of mine, Mr. Ali Fuat Gülmez and I am so glad that he wanted to give us a voice without me mentioning him what we are doing. If you want to listen to the podcast, here is the link. (It is in Turkish, unfortunately) It feels great to give something back to the community with this kind of voluntary projects.
I keep telling that I love entrepreneurship related projects but my other passion is gender equality, you know, gender equality especially in the workplace.
After we finished our reporting for TTA Turkey project, my focus was directed to 8th March events and then our trip to New York for United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Annual Event to take place on 15-16th March.
For gender equality related projects, I have been working with Ms. Nur Ger, Founder of SUTEKS Group, Istanbul-based high-end international fashion producer . Most of the multi-national companies all around the World is aware of the importance of sustaining gender equality at the workplace to achieve business goals. But Ms. Ger’s company SUTEKS is a unique example of how gender equality can be maintained and endogenized at SMEs. Ms. Ger is also a gender equality activist at several civil society and business organisations such as TUSIAD and TURKONFED. She has recently been appointed as the Business Advocate of United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles.
Since October 2015, I have been providing freelance communication Consultancy to Ms. Ger and her company SUTEKS as the Corporate Communications Coordinator. Before that, I was the Account Manager of her company while I was working at the PR Agency for almost 4 years.
As you might all know, 8th March is the peak day of all gender equality and women’s rights related events. We were at Borsa Istanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange) for Ring the Bell Activity of United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles which was first initiated in New York in 2015 and then expanded to many other cities all around the world in order to raise awareness for women’s empowerment in marketplace, workplace and community through business circles. Ms. Ger delivered a speech at the event and whole week she was interviewed by several media outlets.
The last mission of March was WEPs Annual Event that we attended with Ms. Ger in New York. It was my first time in that amazing city and I definitely loved it. Ms. Ger again delivered a speech at the opening panel of the Annual Event at UN Headquarter and apart from the panel we attended several meetings together with different UN Agencies.
On this mission, our initial goal is to increase the number of the signatories of WEPs in Turkey and launch a national campaign to raise awareness for WEPs in Turkey.
In upcoming months, I will be giving you more details about what we are up to.
Here comes the end of this post. I hope you did not get bored and make it until the end.
Spring will bring its own energy and vibe for sure and I hope I will be telling you more about my new projects as well as the current ones.
Till then, take care of yourself and feel free to comment here or reach me through my contact details.
